Oakdale has been a cornerstone of education in the East Toledo area for over 103 years. In the
entire existence of Oakdale, the school has had only 11 principals including the current principal
Dr. Robert W. Yenrick. Dr. Yenrick and generations of his family have attended Oakdale
Elementary for a very long period of time. Oakdale is located in what is affectionately called
"Peanut Hill".
Oakdale has been the number 1 academic school in East Toledo since Dr. Yenrick took over the
school. Oakdale meets or exceeds Value added scores every year but one in the last 9 years
and the students take pride in being the number 1 school. With the success of our students,
Oakdale has earned more Ohio State Young Scholarships than any other elementary school in
Northwest Ohio.
At the same time, Oakdale is the third biggest school in East Toledo and the tenth biggest
elementary school in Toledo Public Schools serving preschool through grades 8. Oakdale has
the lowest discipline rate of any school in East Toledo due to the work of our Social Emotional
Team, New Concepts, our A2S program, and teaching kids to do things the Oakdale way. Due
to the nature of our students, Oakdale was the only school on the East Side attending 6th grade
camp for an average cost of $20 per student.
Oakdale has many community partners that participate in the activities of the school as well,
offering a diverse group of clubs and activities that students can be involved in and grow
personally. The culture of the building represents that community very well. Dr. Yenrick takes
pride in serving this community and looks to continue the East Side traditions that make
Oakdale a special place.
